Types of Data in Programmatic advertising?

Understanding of data is very important to strategically serve ads to the relevant customers.

Three types of data are there which are mentioned below

First party Data:This is the most powerful data because this data is directly gathered from the customers .

For an instance assume you own a website which deals with interior designing so whichever customer interact through your website you have their activity tracked.Like from which location the customer was, age,Gender etc so its your own data.

You must have got a question in your mind how the customer is tracked through that website so during the visit you must have seen a pop up of cookies so all your browsing activity is being tracked through for your session on that website.

That is why when you interacted with an ad previously and after some days you visit again then you are re-targeted through that cookie data.

Second part Data:Data that is gathered by another part or you can say another advertiser.

Assume  your own a  brand for hair shampoo for that you plan to launch a new product then you will be going to such publishers or website who addresses the same set of audience as per your brand.so that's what we call it second part data.

its for partnering with other parties to expand audience.

Third party data:it is a massive data collected by independent providers and is organised into segments which advertiser can purchase for highly specific demographic targeting. So how does the third part gather information about the users they put pixel on different websites and collect information about users on those sites that information does not contain your personal identity and sell back that data to advertiser with their segments.

basic terminologies:

Cookies:-these are files stored in your browsers folder in order to identify a user in an anonymous way It helps to know about the consumers interaction with ads and content.
